Hey Friends,

Just wanted to get some input here regarding sequencing bass lines on the SP samplers. Since you can't record in while playing a pattern, what do you guys normally do? Subsonic effect? Record one note at a time and sequence bass one pad at a time from there? Play a bass line while recording into the SP and then chop?

BTW, I'm on a 404sx and am looking to sequence ONLY in the 404, so I'm not looking for tips on sequencing on the computer and then importing it into the 404, because I already know how to do that. This is in the vein of making beats with the 404 only, something I've only recently started doing.

Just wanted to say I apologize if this has already been covered in another topic, but I searched through the forum and didn't really find anything that directly answered my question. THIS TOPIC can be a forum for us to share bass line techniques, come up with random suggestions, etc. Any input is encouraged and appreciated!

sample in bass notes one at a time assign them to individual pads and then just play the bass notes by triggering the pads.

basically you have to sample your bass notes and then sequence them rather than play into it to overdub over your track.

Yeah, I either sample individual notes, or sometimes I turn on my metronome and sample the whole bass line. External metronome so it doesn't record the click. There's legit metronome apps for smartphone that work. 9 times out of 10 I'll just sample the individual notes though

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll definitely put this to use :) Crazy how full you can make beats sound on the SP with such few elements.
