Just wanted to know opinions if the 505 is worth copping, they're relatively cheap but I wasn't sure why as they're like a 303. However, coming from a mpc background I wasn't sure if a 606 would be better, or a 404sx as I love Brainfeeder which is silly.

So is the 505 too dated to consider, 128mb max memory card seems tiny really. Or should I invest in a sp404sx or 606 when I find one?.

you should get a 606 if you're coming from mpc land. i just had one for a minute but had to get rid of it. it was only $200. still love the 404 though will never get rid of that. 303 or 404 for me all day

Depends on what your after.

I think it's got the same fx as the 303. Got a cool wave edit view, a crazy chopping feature and a crazy pitching function.

For me tho, My main go to fx is the Djfx looper which is exclusive to 404sx (not sure if its on the 555?!) also my 404sx has copy function and I love the marking way of chopping beats.

the 606 is pretty cool, my second favourite sp. nice screen, 16 velocity pads, 2 fx units and that dbeam is crazy. Shame the unit looks like ass!

hell fkin yeah! theres no machine to this day that can compete with its features vs price point, and its not even close

128MB memory is not tiny at all. Especially considering all of it is instantly accessible.
All but the flagship modern MPCs max out at 128MB of volatile RAM.

I been watching oldby's videos but it doesn't quite explain how you store samples, can you save songs with samples which I can see easily maxing out the card.

is chopping and slicing any cop, its my bread and butter. How does it compare to a mpc 1000 for example, better than 606 slicinG?

The og has the bpm looper only. The 404sx has the bpm looper AND the Djfx looper. Difference is that the Djfx looper has that vinyl stop feature.

actually doc van nos is correct. i have the og 404.
the bpm looper is mfx 23 and djfx looper is mfx 24. they moved djfx and voice transformer from mfx to the dedicated fx buttons on the sx
