Anyone know why the hell I could be getting radio noise from the receiver I run my tt through? It's weird,it stays on the same station when I flip thru the dial,I have the ground connected, and obviously have the receiver on phono. I even got a second receiver and it does the same thing.its real quiet, but still slightly audible when I sample..could it be my location? This didn't happen before I moved to a new place. Any ideas? Thanks..

Is it an old building?
Could be a bad ground. Are they old two prong outlets? If so get one of those three prong to two prong adapters and screw that little ground loop thing to the outlet cover.
What else is hooked up to the receiver?
Try unplugging things to see if something else is causing the problems. Computers can cause problems. Long cables can sometimes act as antennas too. Get some shorter ones.
Or go down the street and tell the radio station manager to shut down for brief periods so you can get some stuff done.

Thanks for all the suggestions man I appreciate it. Idk though, pretty sure the ground's fine, all I have connected is the tt going out and sp going in,3 prong outlets,3 foot or so cables..I noticed that for some reason when I tap on the headshell of my tt the reception changes a little in volume,or the input starts coming just through the left channel, which is really strange.I am in an extremely old building, its crazy though, never had this happen. Guess I'm gonna take a trip to that radio station,lol...I'm just gonna go ahead and do things as is I guess,no other choice. Maybe if cats listen super close they'll think I'm sending some subliminal meassages, lol ...thanks

yo I had the same problem with my ttx tables I would hear radio stations when moving the tone arm if your setup is near a window or exterior wall try moving away from there. I'm not going to pretend to know the science behind it but I believe it has to do with the needle and tonearm acting as an antenna or something like that so I would say move your setup if possible. I look forward to a mystery beats tape if that doesn't work

That's a good suggestion-move away from the walls. Prob lots of unshielded lines running through them old walls. Electricty and radio stuff is wacky-but ya-use the force and go with it if all else fails!

I had that problem and my friend told me to wrap a wire or a metal paperclip around the ground thingy (there was a screw sticking out of it) and bend it so that the other end of the wire touches one of the rca outs... I don't remember exactly how it went but it involves two ends of a wire touching different places on the back of the turntable. From then on, the radio sounds were gone, give it a try.

I don't really have the option of moving away from a wall..although I am using the one wall w a window, guess I could try a different non exterior wall. Think I'll give what kel is talking about a try first though..(maybe its a capitol hill thing man,lol..I'm over by pike & belmont) thanks everyone

It's a grounding problem. Either from the turntable or the receiver.
I've had it happen to me before. Somehow picking up strange radio, feeling like an alien channel. Kind of creepy.
Check also the little wires that connect the cartridge through the headshell on the tonearm.

Also, what output(s) are you monitoring this from that you hear it wacky?
Change around the outputs if you have multiple outs and see if this fixes things.

Yea I've tried everything suggested prior to coops,lol..nothings changing.I only got one set of outs from the receiver, and I'm pretty sure the wires in the headshell are connected as good as they can be. Thanks though man. I can only hear the radio noticeably with the sp volume at max, with compression on..and that's without a record playing. So its really really quiet I think...samples should drown it out good enough . I'm really thinking its the building and where I'm at in it,since it does the exact same thing w both receivers I got. I'll try messing around a little w the tt before I give up though :)

Man, this takes me back
When I was a kid living with my parents I had a similar problem
There was a radio station right near by and a grip of my electronice would pick the station up as welll. I remember it was most noticible on my pops guitar and bass amps. Shit drove him nuts being he was a metal dude and the station was a country station (fucking weak)
Anyway
If I recall correctly the temp fix that worked was wrapping the gear in chicken wire. I'm not sure how possible that'd be in your case, but maybe mess around with it to whatever extent you can and see if that helps?
