....i settings

in the previous models (sp-303;sp-505) they had
normal
long
lo-fi

nowadays they have
normal
lo-fi

while lo-fi is actually the 'long' setting.

I don't get it. One of the greatest things of the 303 is that it samples in 10.025 kHz. Why would roland just ditch that?

'Cause you'll have to buy a 303/40 to get that which stimulates sales for an older product.

We can only hope Papa Roland reads this forum carefully and is implementing ALL of our favorite features on the upcoming SP that will have us blowing our credit to pre-order the thing when it drops.

One thing I was wondering is why did a few of the SPs come out under the "Boss" brand? I know they are the same parent company but still.

word, I always wondered that too. I would have thought the 404 would have the boss name and the drSample name like the 303 and 202.

apparently because originally Boss came up with the idea for the small portable and cheap sampler series. They made 202, 303 and then Roland thought why would they not put their brand on top so it sells even better and gives some rep to the Roland.

It sounds like your beat drove through the ghetto and got shot up. It's really fun to use and can produce some awesome sounds that are completely different then what you originally wanted.

yeah,
I absolutely love sampling with lo-fi,it can give character to a sample(especially vocal). It's not suited for everything, then again,it depends on individual tastes.

If you like multiple samples rates check out the 202. It has 4 sampling modes. it has Hi-Fi, Standard, Lo-Fi, and Lo-Fi2. The Lo-fi2 is something crazy low.. something like 3.5 kHz or some shit. I can't remember the exact number. Lo-Fi2 provides you with twice the sample time as regular lo-fi.

Also, the 202 only says Boss on it, it doesn't say Roland anywhere.

That sounds good, but you guys should've added the vinyl sim/compressor effect from the sp-303 with the effects package on the sp-555. It's really good

Oh, really it's the same?. I don't have the sp-555 but I believe Dj Frantic told me it sounded a little different. That's cool.
Ypu guys should make the sp-707 have a really nice pitch shift effect chip and a way to chop the sample like the sp-505 with an added roll button or possibly a note repeat button similar to the effects grab function but with sample playback instead of applying effects. Also I've been told the 404 pads feel slightly different than the 303 pads, do you know if the are the same thing?
I like my sp-303 pads more than any drum pads I've used you should recreate those pads but just a little bit bigger.

LOL the 555 has a new pitch shift algorithm which sounds alot better. The 555 also ALREADY has a ROLL button which even lets you change the note resolution from 16th to swing or 8th note repeats. ALREADY there man . LOL

Really, damn then I'm sleepin' on that thing. I think I might buy one but I'll wait till it's cheaper after the sp-707 is released, until something like that happens the 303 is all I need in a hardware sampler. It's perfect in my mind
