I'd love a mpc with Roland effects and quick resampling like the sp models. Mpcs are the shit but once you touch an sp and notice how quick it is and how easy you can lose yourself in a beat, then you play with an mpc and get lost or sidetracked in functions and buttons n shit, you see the difference. But the fucking sequencer is a beast and none of Roland's machines got that right besides the mv. But the mv has it's own shit with patches and audio phrases and what not.
The 505 is close but the design is like an ugly chick with a fat booty. You can deal with her doggystyle but you wouldn't take her to red lobster.
And the 606 is weird, always felt like I was on a spaceship.

I guess I'd like something like the SP-404 with the KP3 slices and loops plus a nice little synth. Give me a better display, some simple button presses to get things done and don't screw up on basic things anyone would assume are standard on a sampler.

That's mostly an OP-1, which is pricey. They've got things right from the start though. The Microsampler is close, but no cigar.

I mean, it wouldn't be like that for the interface and all, but it's almost there for the workflow.

Basically 12 pads, 8 slices for each, 3 octave synth, FX, 4 track looper, resample, master effects. Could be just a good 4 track sequencer, like a MIDI looper. Just needs a good screen to edit and stuff (like naming samples and such).

Once u start naming samples, that's when it's over, for me. Imagine sampling a bunch of drum hits from a drum machine or something. Kick 1 snare 5, hi hat 11. Fuck that.
Add to my previous post, no file naming. Maybe a shit ton of banks and I can name those...
Again, like the 808.
Dam, I think I could just use an 808 with a USB port and something other than a zip drive. And a extra set of arms cause the dam thing has 2 audio inputs. I could play live with 4 arms and sample twice at the same time.

So, your dream beat machine involves being Goro or something like that?

Maybe not really samples, but banks or whatever. My idea with the 8 slices is to have like 8 different slices assigned to a pad (kinda like the KP3 but involving other stuff). It wouldn't have actual banks, just backups maybe.

About the 808, isn't it possible to use a card reader in place of the zip drive?

Love the abilities of the MV, but fun/effects on the SP.
So i'd like basically the form factor of the SP555 with the following:

-ADSR / LFO / multimode filter per sample
-Panning (can be linked to LFO)
-3 effects at once: 2 regular and 1 master (compressor/lofi/etc)
-8 track sequencer , w/ 8 track USB audio out
-Audio Looper expanded to 32 bars
-D beam synth controllable by midi or pads as a monosynth, more tweakable
-Sample loop to pad w/o stopping flow
-Other effects controllable by dbeam: delay depth, autopanning, etc.

that would NOT be cheap, but it would be a killer.

an akai s20 with a decent sequencer would be enough for me.

Roland MS-1 with 12 polyphony, 16 pads but 8 pads on the left side and 8 pads on the right and the sequencer and effect controls in the middle. Sequencer like the 303 but give it 4 tracks, and must have resample. Pitch tune each sample individually, and leave the Master pitch in. It can be sold for $199. at your local music store.

Roland, if you read this: a sequencer with easy jump in and out record mode, for live hacking!
