learn the 404, everything is possible.

If you really don't want to, you'll either have to get some expensive music program or search for free vsts.

I suggest you get more familiar with the 404. I think the sequencer is enough to do anything, as long as you can turn off quantize aint nothing holding you back.

I have no experience with newer Macs, but wouldn't GarageBand be useful as a sequencer? I have no experience with that program, either, but from the looks of the screens it seems like you should be able to sequence with it. Do Macs come with it now? Other than that, you can find free 'lite' versions of many of the bigger applications, and use those for simple sequencing. Most of the big ones are available for both Mac and PC these days.

best all in one package for Macs dealing with what you're looking for is Fxpansion Guru. watch the videos on their site, then download a demo of 1.5.

it's the bees knees.

This is what i'm looking for thanks!

i understand i can do this with 404. however some of the beats i'm using have different volumes.

I'm fed up of programing patterns i spend years doing that with my 303!

yep, guru is the best drum programming software. The ease of use in addition to the amazing audio and midi features clearly make it the winner

Here you go, you don't have to buy shit. This is basically ableton live but with a simple graphical user interface, the guy who made this worked on the next version of ableton.

other than the PC he'd have to buy, Shortcircuit is indeed free. He's looking for Mac apps. Plus he'd need a VST host for it.

You'd run xp for vista for the very reason that there are many more free programs and little neat programs for xp than osx. But I have both a mac and pc since I don't like to tax one system with two os's like with parallels. But it's all good. I can make full beats with nothing other than audacity, but garageband is super simple and easy to use as a sequencer and it's free with all macs.
