well, i'm guessin if your electric piano has an audio out(i know organs do), or an 1/4" headphone out then your gonna need an 1/4'' to rca out, then plug into the male rca then into the line in of your 404, then sample away...hope i didn't confuse you & hope this helps, if this is what you askin, there's a missing word in your ?uestion, that's why i'm stumped... 8) it's one of those, "OOOOO"

if you can you play the electric piano

- why not try plug it into yr sp and then just jam to something - easier if you keep it in a specific key.

You may have success if you end up with a long single sample of jammed stuff - runs apreggios, chords - that you can then go back and chop up to bits that you can drop over yr drums.

like a beat battle.

If you can't play the epiano you can still do this anyway - you might want to look up some theory on modes/scales so you know what keys to stick to for a particular key.

In another thread, I'm pretty sure someone said that a good method is to have your sample copied to three or four buttons. That way, you can chop the same sample individually and get the sound you're looking for.

I'm a complete newb, too (haven't even gotten my 404 yet), so maybe someone else has a better method...

hey drew, there's aw sorts of different ways to do this, mans. what i recommend (along w/ taking the advice of peeps on the forum) is google / youtube "beat making" or "beat construction" or "sample methods" as keywords, and you'll find vids of great producers explaining & showing HOW they are choppin and arranging.

even if they're using different gear, the techniques can apply.

consider it their christmas present to ya!

good luck.

Yeah, youtube has a lot of videos on production that are still relevant to making beats with any sampler.

also drew if you want to play your organ straight in you could;
1.)make pattern
2.)record that pattern the length you would want it onto a md/tape/etc...
note: write down tempo on tape.
3.)just listen to that pattern, as you record what organ you would want on a single pad.
4.) when done select pattern play said pattern and then get out of pattern mode and select pad with organ.
now this can be tricky so you will need a specific point where the pad(organ) comes in. i would suggest 1bar in, or after a pattern finishes one cycle.
