Pro-tools works well, I like it a lot and use it from time to time 'cause my friend owns a studio here in Oakland. They also have an Mbox2 micro that's the size of a usb flashdrive, don't know much about it except it only has a 1/8th in line in and I doubt the converters are as good as even the mbox2 mini. If you can afford it I think you'd be happy with a mbox2 pro.

pro tools LE hardware is the biggest piece of garbage thats out there. Ive never seen stuff get returned more than Mboxs and 002s. They sound decent but the build is terrible. Pro Tools is great software though and its industry standard. I would get something in the M-audio firewire series and get pro tools M-powered.

Yeah, my badI overlooked the fact that I've only ever used pro-tools rack gear.

the 001 is the funk. The 002 was crappy...but better than the 002 console and Mbox. I have yet to hear about 003s but knowing digi as a company chances are its worse than the 002.

My friend has 002 rack and it's nice, the 003 has shitty converters so I would get a copy of pro-tools 7.4 and buy a better sound interface and you'll be good.
