404.

I've already sold it 2 times.
But it comes back to me like a fucking boomerang.

Wow, very in depth. I checked out the prices, though...wow, 3000 bucks.
I think I'll stick to cheaper samplers for now.
I'm looking into what piece of gear I should get next; microsampler, microkorg, 606, 555, 505 or MPC1000?

I've always liked the look of the 606, 16 velocity sensitive pads and waveform editing, all for a resonable 2nd hand price.

Microkorg is a great intoduction to synthesis, the only draw back really are the small keys, but they are really not that much of a problem.

i owned the 303 404 and 555. and when i was selling everything off tho get an MV i couldnt let go of my 555. it is just way more funtional than the others imo. besides battery operated it beats out any other sampler ive owned hands down. the usb connectivity, and the 16 pads, more sample time, phantom power, loop capture, d-beam,(god knows we cant do without that :? , and all that good stuff.
so i say the 555 would be the way to go for a sampler. now if you want an all in one box, MV is THE machine for you. PheMox summed it up pretty good but ya, add a record player and you got a studio.

now me, i like using both together. the 555 is quicker for sampling and adding effects and resampling and all that. then the MV does the rest. i do sample with the MV but im just used to tweaking stuff on the 555 so it gets more play when it comes to sampling.

final annalasis: do like ellaguru and buy em all! :D :D

edit: hey hema have you looked into the mc-808? that might be something up your alley??

Yep, new price in Swiss francs is indeed about 3 grand. It's still a whole lot of money, but you should be able to get one secondhand around 2000~2200 Swiss francs, perhaps even less when you get lucky. Not too sure how secondhand prices are in Switzerland though.

It depends on your needs. If you will need or want more than a 4-track sequencer, I would go for the MPC1000. I had a whole lot of fun with the 4-track sequencer on the SP-606 though. My favorite SP of all time. Also has a screen so you can see the waveforms and doesn't cost as much as the MPC1000 as it's quite slept on!
