ur gonna need a mixer, midi cables, midi out (mpc) - midi in (sp) - then set the mpc to be the master and the sp to be the slave, it should work like that, if not try setting the sp as the master and mpc as the slave, either way that should help.

I own a 1k and a 404. I didn't really use them together but I've found out that each has their own sets of advantages. I like the MP because with the MP you're allowed to be more discrete in your sampling and chops. It's easier as opposed to having the fast hands to sample small parts on the 404 (hard as hell!).

I like using the MP for drums as well, chopping and filtering because I believe the MP has better capabilities for filtering. You can beef up your drums a lil bit with filtering and whatnot and use the 404 to beef things up even more.

They make a great team..it'd be tight as hell if Roland teamed up with Akai and made a product. Acourse, this will never happen.

I also have a 303..
how do most of you connect them together? via the 303 Midi In > into the MPC's Midi In?

I'm reading over the manual and trying to figure out how to get sample out of the 303 and into the MPC..tips?

You need to connect the 303 to the mpc with the midi cable then you have to go to the MIDI setupon the mpc and set up the 303 to work along with the mpc. Sorry I couldnt be more specific but its almost the same as connecting a keyboard to the mpc.

does the 2k have input thru on the mixer settings??? if yes, then set up like this (once you got your samples) sp outs to mpc in, assingable outs on mp to sp ins. (input thru to master), then you can send samples back and forth with no feedback loop. like the mp expansion pack. is dizope.
