Hey,

I'm working with an SP404 and trying to get it to play nice with my MPC1000 & do some fun looping.

Say I've got a short guitar or vocal sample & want to record a matching bass line or a harmony vocal. What's the best way to approach recording a matching loop on an SP404 with minimal pain/resampling/hair pulling? I want it to just feel like overdubbing, you know?

I think someone mentioned that in resampling mode you can make this happen, but I'm not positive. I just loop my sample already in the 404 that I know will be my main melody line for the track and then turn on the souce button to start listening in to what im wanting to sample.
If you have a way to adjust the pitch/tempo externally to match the existing sample then all you have to do is just record the adjusted source in and then tweak the volume and eq's.
this is how i do it. if there is a faster way hopefully someone can shed some light.
peace

Hmmm...see, that's the troublesome part. Most of my performances are live. I sample a few recordings (that I could slow down), but mainly I self-sample my own grand piano, guitar, vocals and assorted electronic instruments. So...it's tough if I can't play the other loops I've captured in the background, you know? Any ideas?
