Maybe I'm halucinating, but I remember reading several reviews of the KP2's ability to "totally control an external synth through Midi". So I buy one with thoughts of "playing" my DS Evolver only to read the KP2 manual and find out it doesn't support midi note # or note on.
Is there a workaround for this that I just don't know about?
If the KP2 truly won't trigger notes via Midi, then is there a pad out there that will?
Admitted midi newbee. Thanks for any help with this.

the kaossilator pro MIGHT output midi notes from the arpeggiator..

but since it's made by korg, I doubt it actually will.

Just wondering why you want to control notes by xy pad? its not exactly easy to play precisely that way

It would surprise me if you can't feed midi notes into the Kaossilator Pro though, as it focuses a lot on being a serious 'synth' FX module.

This could mean it also sends out midi notes, but I somewhat doubt that it does.

As for the KP2, yeah, it can only output pitch bend, filter and chorus-like midi stuff from what I know. :(

Here's why I want to "play" my synth from a KP2 pad: I play electronic hand percussion with 2 wavedrums and a Roland Handsonic. I'm constantly looking for ways to put new sounds within my fingertips. I use the Handsonic's midi out to trigger various synths, but it would be cool to have additional sounds I can trigger by just touching the pad. I guess I could get a Korg PadKontrol or some other similar device for triggering but the Kaoss pads have a nice tactile feel to me. Thanks for your help and feedback on this! Cheers!

Yeah, you are obviously right, but 'we' already discovered it did not work in practice anywho. ;)
