if you want/search the looper fx choose the kp2/kp3/minikp
i got the kp2, it's cool
the loope fx is better on kp3/minikp i think
minikp got a lesser volum 'cause of batteries thing...

From a finance/budget/"you want to do this on a big-scale, right?" level, you'd be a fool not to buy the KP3 for $200. It's a good deal, and it's the one you'll end wanting to upgrade to anyway in the future.

Yeah, Huph is right. If you like the Kaoss Pad series and what they can do in general and you've got the money, I'd go with the KP3 as well. The KP2 might be a good alternative if you're not too sure if you're going to use the KP3 a lot, but it lacks a few things.

i had a kp2 for a bit. i originally got it to put fx and loops on vocals. but i didn't find it too effective for that (ended up running the vox into a rc20xl loop pedal which worked great).

the fx are pretty good tho, and obvs, the X/Y axis thing is a LOT of fun, esp if yr playing live.

i have a kaossilator, too. i like it for jamming with friends and stuff, but not so much for recording, because once you recognize the sound of the kaossilator you can hear it a mile away (sounds are not editable).

LASTLY: i have seen mixers with built in KPs....don't know whether are just minis or KP2s / 3s, but if you need a mixer, this may be a way to go?

That's what at some point I very much disliked about the KP3 FX as well. It's too recognizable for my taste. Doesn't mean it's not fun to mess with though, but it's usefulness deteriorated fast for me because of that recognizability.

I think most Kaoss Pad mixers are actually with KP2 technology, but the Korg KM202 Kaoss Pad Mixer is said to have Kaoss Pad 3 integrated FXs. Not sure how those mixers match the actual Kaoss Pad 3 though, as they're obviously quite different. The mixers do not have dedicated sample buttons or at least to my knowledge no sampling capability. So it's probably more like a miniKP.
