I assume this has been covered, so i apologize. I tried to search but the results were so broad and I am in a hurry because my 404 broke and all my shit is on there so I need to be able to control it with the MPC. Any basic guide/outline to this? Thanks guys, and again, sorry for a repeat thread. I'll make it up to you in the afterlife.

you can control the pads you just have to set the midi out to match the midi channel of the 404, how did you break your 404 ?

sorry for being vague i dont own an mpc right now.

No, you can not use the SP404 as a controller. It only has midi in.

Also for using the mpc1000 to control the SP404 I don't know if you can access all the banks of sounds. When I midi master my MC307 to my SP404classic, I can only access 2 banks of sounds. If I change the midi channel the 404 receives on I can access 2 more banks with each channel change. It's weird and it kinda bugs me, but oh well.
