Wussup peeps. I need help. How can I make my padkontrol trigger multiple pads at once. In other words, how can I use one pad on my padkontrol to say trigger (send note on) every pad in bank A. Thanks in advance. Trying to get the pk and sp working in the best flow possible. Peace.

Hi
I don't think that's possible. Each pad on the 404 has it's own different midi note and each pad on the pk can only be programmed to send one specific note. If you want a lot of your sounds from one hit, you probably have to make a new samples of those sounds mixed together on one 404 pad.

Thanks Jim Y for the response. I was thinking last night that that may be my only alternative. It would just be so much cooler if I could do it just with the PK. Oh well. I'll still keep hope alive that there is a way. Peace.

If the PK can trigger the pattern pads, you could probably record each sample onto one pattern.

does the padkontrol (or any midi controller for that matter) NEED a computer for it to work in conjuction with the 404? cant you just set it up once with the computer and then completely leave the computer out of it afterwards?

why would you even bother with the computer? my pk never uses a usb cable. my guess is it's the same with the mpd series.
edit: you will need the power cord, which is extra, if you don't power through the usb though.

Velocity sensitive pads + an extra row of them if you are on a 404 or 303, roll, flam and i guess a longer life for the sp pads :D

The pk can throw rolls and flams too,
And the pads are much nicer altogether...

Back to the og Q, I don't think there's anything that can fire a programmed salvo of midi notes - although some midi keyboards with auto chords might do it, you'd have to arrange your samples to suit the chord type.

Thanks for the replies guys. Really appreciate it. But let me ask you something. If I use a sequencer like numerology 3, since I have a mac, would I be able to send midi data to the sp404 and trigger notes on and off while the numerology sequence is playing. That would be tight if I could. If not, could I do it with an external sequencer like, say a spectralis or a future retro revolution or even a qy70 (see this youtube vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85B6TQXEFRw). If I could turn the notes on and off (setting the pads to gate on the sp404 and not loop) with one of these tools that would be tight.
