Hey,

Im not quite sure how to explain this but here goes. Lets say i edit the start point of a sample to +15 to remove unwanted silence or noise and then play the pattern with the sample in through a few times. Then, if i am not happy with the start point set i will return to re-edit the sample.
However, the start point of +15 i previously set will for some reason start the sample in a completely different place usually much further forward than before. I will then have to change the start point to something like -15 just to start it from the same place as before.

This is quite annoying when i am trying to fine tune a sample because it means i have to set a start point, play the pattern, go back, try and change the start point so it starts in the same place as before and then edit the sample to the way i now want it.

I completely understand if u cant work out what im talking about but does this happen to anyone else or is this just the way its supposed to be??

Cheers,

Joe

Did you trim the unwanted sections of your sample after you set the startpoint the first time?

I See your problem...your not understanding how the editing works. Let me give you a quick rundown

the best way to edit your samples is using the "mark" button. Hit the mark button where you want your sample to start and again to set the end. Then use the knobs for fien adjustment. If you only need to take out a very small portion of the begining/end of the sample then its prolly best to go strait for the knobs. Now heres the part your missing. The knobs will continuously add or remove time from the start/end point of your sample every time your turn the start/end/level button on. Why does it do this ? because the 404s knobs dont spin endlessly. So, lets say you move the knob all the way to 30 and you need to go further... what now ? well... just turn start/end/level off and then back on and you can go a whole nother 30 if you want. See what im sayin ?
