hey , anyone else have a problem where you quantize some drums and then once playing the pattern for awhile it just spazzes out and is off time every couple hits?

The sp-404 quantize is below-average in its capabilities, best just to resample/resample/resample, with the 1 gig card you could feasibly create minute-long patterns and chain them together manually, this is my preferred method and a much better one, all of the classics were created this way.

404 or 404sx? I know it seems silly but I just thought maybe if it's the SX the swing is turned on..

as for the 404.. learn to punch the pads on time and do what the above poster said.. resample instead of record patterns - if you record your beat as a sample, you can resample it to 'copy' it, etc.. and avoid using the crappy sequencer

its the reg 404.. so this is something other people have encountered mainly because the sequencer is weak?

naw this only happens when i sequence individual hits, drums in this case. most of my loop based patterns have been ok or not real noticeable if its happening, except this one particular looped track. sometimes ive double up on the same quantize and thought its fixed it but that doesnt make alot of sense so i think its just my ears being tricked. but the other day i was tracking something out and i had already become suspicious of it from the previous sp track i recorded and then on this one it was just bananas all over the place and the sample was just on the 4's high hats so it was real noticeable. some of the stuff im trying to use the sp for involves tracks id be djing so everything has to be spot on for mixing. if this is a thing alot of ppl on here have encountered im jsut gonna export my samples and rebuild the patterns in the computer, which is extra time but will do for now.
