hi folks, I use my 404 quite regularly with my band and I am afraid that one day It will crash and I'll lose my samples. I have done a backup save on both my cards, does that mean I can load my samples onto another 404 if my current one breaks? any help would be apprectiated.thanks

As far as I'm aware it only backs up bank A & B - the other banks are always stored on the card, not the machine, so they're automatically 'backed up' just by existing...

If I were you I would copy the contents of the card onto computer and/or upload a copy of the card's contents, because it's probably more likely that the flash card will die than the SP

you could put that card into any 404, doesn't matter if it's new...

i backup my stuff by copying the card content (Roland folder) to the pc...
never messed with the backup function in the machine... bank A+B won't get saved though.

Curious, I have a flash card reader that plugs in to my PC through USB. Do I just plug it in? Or do I need some sort of program to recognize the flash card data?
