I just got my SP-404SX and absolutely loving it. Really nicely written manual, everything super easy to figure out so far.

But I can't figure out how to raise the volume of a recorded sample. I see how to lower it by pressing the "Start / End / Level" button and then using the "CTRL 3" knob, but that only lets me lower it from the default level of 127, and not actually *boost* the level.

This is a problem whenever I try to record using the microphone, which tends to be low.

I'm wondering if there's some clever way to raise the level above the recorded volume, even if it means modifying the sample?

Yo can resample the sound to a new pad with the EQ effect however you would like it. That will make it louder. Hope this helps.

you can use filter and drive with no filter on .

i do this when i sample from a turntable with no amp, just turntable right into the RCA jacks.

does the trim knob effect the internal mic or just the ext mic plug?

Doesn't that sound like shit? No bass, grossly emphasized highs :(

Compression also works for gaining volume, but naturally it fucks with the original dynamics of the sample.

if you use really tiny amount over and over it works OK, it's not perfect of course.

you can use the lo-fi MFX to do a really basic and nasty sort of level boost....

isolator all the way up...
clean, loud; might need to turn down the orig. volume if the samples down though cause of the clipping...

I use the Compressor MFX12...it adds a little boost. But don't over compress...you'll make it sound like shyte.
