The pads are not as good as the MPC pads for example. Also you need to use 404 pads for a bit to get them broken in. When they are new they are stiff. The writing on the pads will wear away soon, but the pads should last a while. I've seen some photos of 404s with really wore out pads that still work. I think only a couple members here have actually needed to replace them.

So it could be end up without those numbers on them, but 90% they will work - if its true, thats good

for me, best pads are..iphone or ipad..sensoric display with multitouch..no sound of pressing, perfect for quick runs through different..speed runs i mean.. software with hardware interface heh..oops here i ll shut down

I developed a different technique for the sp404 compared to how I play on mpc/mpd pads. You have to use more wrist, hand, finger technique rather than beating the shit out of it. Also the knobs should be treated with a different technique as well, I ownd my control knob 3 pot goin mad on the looper

i've never had any problem with the pads on the 404.

lord knows mine are unsanitary :P

There's no surface space on my desk so things like pad grids and blank bits of casing become drink holders
