i dont know if this is a real trick and it might be something you all have done or know about but.... in the event that anyone doesnt or will find it useful this is how i started using the 404 to record before i could figure out the actual sequencer
this method uses the pattern mode like its just a regular recorder basically.
it works best if your samples are loops and most likely set to loop or gate/loop
resampling can be major in this method
to set it up , put your pattern length at 99 and your bpm at 40 (lowest), to maximize your time, turn the metronome off, no quantize), hit rec and go to work
at this point nothing matters but the timing in which you hit your samples
the only downside really is that live effects bpm wont be right
otherwise it could be fun, def has uses, basically like i said i made this up bc i didnt know how to use the sequencer at first, so if you are a ninja w the 404 you might be like 'why would you wanna do this?' ... also its great for anyone making like ambient or noise music .. recently i used this way for playing something i tracked into the computer back off the 404 as long separate tracks (just quantize hit on 1 and hit all the tracks)
i hope this long ass post helps somebody!
