Just a quick question

Is it possible to trigger samples on the 404sx with a midi footswitch? Say, hooking up the FC-300?

(oh, and a small bonus question: does the 404sx usually come with data preloaded on its memory card?)

thanks!

Yes, if it can send midi note messages. I've done it with a Behringer FCB1010 pedal controller. I believe the FC300 is similar (with less switches) in that a patch can send a note-on, then the note off when you change the patch - each patch program controls just one note. If you can have say, 100 patches, then you could control 100 notes. It will be monophonic which is ok for bass but not so good for piano - although no reason why your samples can't be of chords.

Pretty sure the new 404SX comes with a loaded card. Not sure if it has pitched instrument notes if that's what you want. The SP isn't an instrument sampling synth as such, but it is isn't impossible to use it that way -you just have sounds assigned to pads which can also be triggered over midi with the appropriate midi note message.

thanks so much for replying!

I'm really curious in seeing a live video of how this would be done; It would really solve all my musical problems, because I'm thinking of a one-man-band sort of act and switching samples on and off would really help out.

I'd really like to see how (and if its possible) you incorporate those two expression pedals on the board :)
