Hi-

I was reading the manual and the explanation that they had given for how to load samples pertained how to load a slew of them across a bank. This is good for bulk loads, but what do you do if you if you only want to load one sample and not 50 of them?

You can do that, but you'll have to make sure the root directory on the compact flash card holds only one sample.

I don't think you can choose how many files to import or import individual samples though. :(

Of course if you're using the SP-404sx, the wave import application will be your friend here. If you're like me using the old 404, there's currently no way around that just yet.

ok. thanks for the info. man as awesome as the sp-404 is, they were really asleep at the wheel when it came to certain workflow things. I guess its a good practice then to reserve the last bank for loading bunches of samples, copy pad, and then delete the rest then?

Yeah indeed. I take it the SP won't overwrite previous padbanks when selecting the last right?

Then again, if you have like 18 samples on your SP, you will only be able to import the first 12 anyways, so for more specific file imports, you're going to have to do it differently anyways.

In other words, you're going to use your card reader a lot, ...unless you're going to sampling incoming audio directly through line in / mic in instead and make single shot samples and loops from there... that can be by far the fastest method depending on the audio interface (or laptop / sound card outs) you might be using.

In any case, I feel your pain.

is it me or does the sp import samples to bank c no matter what you name them or which bank you push when doing the button combo for importing? awhile back i imported some samples and named them all for bank j and when i did the work it put them on c and overwrote a bunch of samples i had... ever since then i just move whats on c to import then move it back...

Hmm, not sure. I've imported about three times now and while I did overwrite a bunch of samples from the previous owner, I'm not quite sure if it has to always import to bank C.

I think the manual might mention things like this... have to check it out. :)

(I've got the old 404).
