Hi,

Is there any way, within a new Pattern that is 4 bars long to trigger a sample that is only 3 bars long in such a way that it just carries on looping itself from the start... continuing in 3/4 whilst all the other loops go round in 4/4?

I've tried a few experiments but can't get it to work. I though perhaps having that particular sample set to 'LOOP', triggering it once in the pattern on the first beat of the first bar might work but when the 4 bar cycle comes back round the sample stops.

Any ideas?

i think you have two options:

1) create your "3/4" loop on a pad and don't include it in yr sequence. simply trigger it manually every time.

2) create your 4/4 beat to be in a sequence that is 12 (or 24) bars long. record your "3/4" beat where you want it. the two will line up at 12 / 24 bars, and the whole process starts again.

either should work.

Thanks... the second suggestion is where i got to yesterday, a 12bar pattern so everything meets up at the same point. I think i'll stick with this then. It seemed to work, only downside is i can't use the LED counter to measure where i am in perfect bars of four throughout a performance, but then i guess that's more of a plus in the kind of non-linear music i'm making anyway.

Thanks

hm. yeah. couldn't you jack up the bpm (ie: double or triple it) so that you can get counts in between 1,2,3,4? so, still count 1,2,3,4, but have the light flashing so its 1-e-and-a, 2-e-and-a, etc.
