Formatting memory card?(lost my manual )

i know its mad simple but i forget how to format the compact flash card on the 404...i'm thinking you hold down the remain button as you turn it on?but it cant be THAT simple...if anyone could let me know real quick i'd appreciate it.thanks a lot--dru
