I just got an sp-404 and I am trying to update the firmware to version 1.04 but when I copy the file to the card and put it back into the 404 it does not update. It just turns on and proceeds like normal. It currently has firmware ver 1.02. The computer I am using to copy the file over is a Mac.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Did you have the card formatted in the SP-404?

Yes, the card is formatted with the SP-404. I have saved samples to the card and it has worked great. Im not sure why the update wont load.

Do you use a PC or a Mac? The updates are known not to work on a Mac.

There is no problem to update the SP-404 via my MacBook.

Im using an ibook.

Do i copy the update just straight onto the compactflash card or into the folder called "roland"? I've tried both and neither have worked.

you dont put it in the roland folder just the base of the compact flash... so you will see the file next to the roland folder not inside it

maybe its only a problem with the old macs? ie: intel macs it works but pre-intel it doesnt?
