How do I do that? My memory card is corrupt and I really need the samples off it. Is there any way to convert the SPD files to .wav or .aiff ? Help me please!

I don't think you can do that. That format is specific to rolands groove boxes, you'd have to have a program that can read the 404 data compression algorithm and then convert it back into a common format like .wav or .aiff.
Anyone else know more than that? If so help this cat please

ok, well is there a way to recover my samples? they appear on the memory card when I open it in the computer. there's got to be a way to use that data. maybe putting them in a backup folder or something?

You could try copying everything from the card to your computer until you get a new card/fix your card then cpoy it back to the card.

yeah, i have all the files off the card and onto my computer. once again, they are .spd format.

I reformatted the card. now do i just drag and drop the files from my computer into the root menu of the card, or is there something special i have to do?

They should probly go in the same folders they were in before. Create the folders if needed.

they didn't appear to be in folders before. It looked like they were all on the root menu, along with a folder titled "Roland" filled with empty backup folders.

when I put the files on the root menu, the 404 asks me to reformat the card. any ideas? what folders would i have to create?

I'm not sure, but the best way to tell is to sample stuff on the card and then look at the contents with a computer cf reader. You should be able to see how the machine wants the data or folders arranged. Then just replace the like data from before in the card and load it up.

ok, i found out that an empty formatted card will have a folder inside the "Roland" folder called "SP404" which is where the samples are.

However, I put the .spd files on there, then put it in the 404 and nothing shows up. When I hit cancel and A or B I get the ENP message.

So when you say to load it up, is there something special I need to do, or should I just put in the card and the samples be in order on the 404?

And thanks for the help thus far, I know there has to be a way to recover these files.

there is system config files that tell the sampler what to do, make sure you copy everything exactly how the 404 would make them. if not sorry but it might not be possible, even though i was trained by anything is possible parents.

if all else fails, you can always resample to the computer
