does anybody run their turntable thru their sp-404 while triggering samples? i looked on pgs 17 and 45 but i can't figure it out. the level of the sample is way louder than that of the turntable... any suggestions? it looks like roland suggests you do one or the other, either effects or samples, but not both... ?

i just got the thing and i absolutely love it... but yeah, you know, expectations and possibilities and all that...

if anyone has had any luck doing both at the same time (efx & samples w/ the turntable) let me know thanks i know you guys are great thanks peace

this is because most (98%) of turntables do not send a line level out to rca cables. the 404 does not have a phono (riaa?) input. you'll need a mixer or amp with a phono input.

of course you can effect any input while sampling; not a problem.

i run my dad's old phono turntable through a little preamp and make beats, then plug in the turntable and while playin the patterns rock acapellas over them all the time, runnin both the pads and external source through effects (although it is usually only vinyl sim comp, sometimes other stuff though), probably just need that preamp, although its wierd that the ones you have ripped in are loud, do you have to run it through the isolator and equalizer a bunch to boost up levels??

you could run the external source through those to boost volume, and then lower the pads if they are still to loud with the start/end/level until you pull that preamp your way....
