I just read ur suggestion for convereting MP3 to Wav. U said i-tunes I have been looking into this thing since I saw MF DOOM on the Wax Poetics magazine of November.

Here is my idea I put my break search library on my I-Pod.

If I can use this and extract music from the I-Pod to the SP-404 that will be a great wireless sampler on the go type of thing.

Than use the midi to extract patterns from the SP 404 to a daw, ableton or something.

DId you hear about the new wireless midi's

Anyway my head is spinning with ideas and I am looking for advice.

First Post, apelogies if this is against forum rules.

Dude if you got a large capacity iPod you could put a good sized sample library on it. You could convert the wavs to hi quality m4a and use the ID3 tags to organize them in a folder esque manner. Hell, if you really wanted to the pimp the iPod + SP combo you could get one of those iPod mic/line input accessories for it. Then you could record SP patterns into it and right back into the SP.

this is exactly what i do. nothing too fancy for me: all samples on the ipod are saved with "sample" in the artist name (so: sample - rhodes; sample - bass). i can then fish them out. small, portable, awesome.

HOWEVER: what about TUNING?! i've been thinking about this over the last several days...if there was a small app that can pitch-shift the MP3s on the iPod, then you could use it as a mini-daw, pre-404, and get around the no-tune part of the 404.

anyone got a suggestion? all this so i can avoid using the pc....

I rock rockbox on my iPod, so I can play wav, flac, ogg, pretty much any audio format right on it, so non-compressed sampling right there. As to tuning, the new DS (DSi) lets you tweak audio a bit so maybe that's a thought. only plays aac though...

wut does this mean won't I be able to extract patterns from my SP-404 to a computer I got an MPK too.

I am loving all this shit and its pretty much clinching my purchase decisions of getting the 404. I-pod mic, part of my purchase list, and better quality samples I-tunes can do that hot shit.

I really want to know how i can get the arranged patterns from SP 404 to my computer for further production purposes,

Can't I burn a cd with the SP-404 to transport it too the computer, or use an Audio Interface, This is really essential if I can't put it to my computer to work with later I won't know what to do.

Spicey Peanuts - An aquired taste - Here I made this with Cool Edit and FL.

if only you could slow down the rate of ctrl knob 3 on the vinyl sim. then you could tune them.

To get the music out you run a cable from the RCA outs to your audio interface or sound card. Midi out on the 404 would only send midi signals anyway, not the actual sample, so no great loss for what you're looking for as far as I can see.

i thought you wanted to output the MIDI patterns to mess with the rhythms
if you just want to drop out audio patterns, then MIDI is only useful if you want to sync...and you CAN sync with MIDI In..

so; it's all good...carry on
