I programmed some drum loops in reason the other day, and the way I got it on my 404 was to export the loop as a wav, and then import it into my compact flash card by using a usb card adapter.
It worked fine and i don't have to play around with start and end points. Single drum hits I just record direct and trim if need be.

I hope that is of some use to you

Peace

It may be you'd still have trouble with the timing if you programmed from the keyboard in Reason to make a loop clip to export to the card.

What may be happening is the thing called soundcard "latency" - it's the time it takes from hitting a midi key to the sound coming out of the soundcard. If you aren't using anything special, the delay's at least 30milliseconds, which doesn't sound like a lot of delay , but it's enough to kill your timing. Plus there's a delay from the midi keyboard, especially if it's connect by USB.

You need a soundcard with an ASIO driver and make sure Reason is using it in it's device options. The ASIO driver will have a setting for the latency, called a buffer, set this @ about 12ms or less - lower is better but too low can cause glitching/skipping. You should be able to get 12ms on a decent computer.

If you're using a built in soundchip on your computer, you can add an ASIO driver to it (if it's a PC and not a Mac). There's a free program called ASIO4ALL you can google for. It works well, but it's a bit techy to set up.

Luck
Jim

you can get a card adapter from most electronics stores that sell compact flash cards. They're very cheap as well! You don't have to worry about recording if you load it on the flash card as a loop or a single hit. You just have to import the sample(it explains how to do that in the manual)

Peace
