Yo guys, I'm new to the sp-404...mine's less than a couple weeks old.

Question: How can you control the order of your samples on the memory card. Do I organize them while on my comp. w/ the memory card, or while importing them into the Roland?

Also, can you move samples around to different banks?

I searched for this topic & couldn't find anything relevant, so my apologies if this is a re-post. I have a show in <24 hrs. so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks
Logan

First off welcome to the boards. Now the best way to organize the samples is to record them right into the machine instead of importing off the mem card. Or at least for me. its a lil time consuming but you will know exactly where all your samples are going. you can put all your kicks on back c, snares bank d, etc. You can move samples around by holding down del and rec. you will see chg on the screen. hit the pad where the sample is that you would like to be moved. Then pick an open bank/pad to put your sample. hit that pad then press rec. done. your sample is now moved.

Good luck with your show. any more questions please post

Don't worry too much about sample order, you can still change the order of the samples once you have 'em imported on your memory card by using the sample exchange.

using the pc i rename my samples to put them in the exact order i wanna trigger it from the pad/banks.

so i assign a letter (the bank), then underscore, then the number (the pad):

A_01, A_02 ecc. B_01, B_02 ecc.

remember: that's the exact way the sampler rename the samples when you export them as WAV (so if you move your samples to different locations, when exporting the SP will overwrite the samples with the same name).

hope it helps.
