i would like to use a small midi foot controller to trigger samples on my 404. nothing fancy just turning the samples on. it would be cool if it could trigger maybe 4 samples. any ideas?
i looked and saw a bunch of pedals offered on the internet but i read somewhere that the midi mouse wouldn't work with the 404 so it made me think i should know what does work before i waste money.

thank you everyone. this website has been very helpful to me.

Every foot controller will work with sp-404 thru midi if u will use machine like Behringer BCF2000 i think. It has input for expression and sustain pedal and midi out send note on or off to midi in on sp-404. But it wants somebody to check out this method of connection. I will have bcf i few months, so i send u check.

IIRC, Behringer FCB1010 pedal board can send a midi note on from it's foot switches, BUT, I've a horrible feeling you can only have 1 of it's 10 switches doing this in any preset, so you'd have to change presets to get a different pad note - Anybody confirm this?

Other than that, the ideal thing is a midi organ pedal board, but these are expensive & possibly cost more than your 404! - the most basic will give you an octave so that'll cover all 12 pads. Roland have the PK-5. It can be note shifted up and down by octaves, so you can access all of the banks too.
