I've been reading threads about sidechaining using the SP compressor (MFX 12 or 16).
The trick, as I understand it, is to have the ducked sample volume much lower than the kicks (or whatever is ducking the sample), and compress the whole track.

BUT what I don't get is how to fix the levels back?
I only want the ducking effect. I don't want a track with a too booming kick. And I want my sample to be loud enough in the mix.

Am I missing something?

sounds like to me they might be cutting the bass out after with isolater,

or cut the bass out of the kick with isolator before compressing.

the sidechain compressed and floaty resample beats i hear don't have much bass to them. you could try phoney side chaining with volume fade and them chopping the sample? fade it in when the kicks bang. so when the kick finishes the sample is already fading in, creating an imitation side chain effect..

If you don't want to compress your kicks just use a bass tone that is inaudible to the human ear to get the ducking effect on the main sample. Play the "bass tone" at the same time the kicks would hit.

Thank yall.
Gonna try the sub-sonic sidechaining. Seems a better option.
