this is kinda stemming from that previous post. i was interested in posting something similar.

i am very OCD with organizing my sounds. i came from using strikly acid pro to make beats, to hardware (sp-404 only). now my question is this:

when you guys sit down to make a beat, do you concentrate on only finding sounds for that particular beat? when i listen to a record, i'm constantly like "i could use that", "thats dope", "oh shit", "im keeping that", and everything gets really disorganized, because I don't stop to mark anything until I am done with the record/s. so when i go back, its a big mess, i get lost, and a bit discouraged/frustrated. how do you guys go about doing this? do you stop the record/song and mark immediately after you record the samples?

any and all tips are much appreciated.

yeah it can be tough. I'm not the most organized person with this but my advice is try to clear some space for your project beforehand and take it one beat at a time.

one thing ive learned from joining some of the battles is that it is way easier to make a beat when you have a specific source you are getting the samples from rather than trying to mix and match parts of all the cool things you heard all week
