Hello everyone!

I 've been thinking of making a live setup for my album presentation (http://eyecam.bandcamp.com), combining an SP 404 with an Akai Miniak. There will be no computers on stage so the patterns will be running from my beloved SP.
Since 1 GB is not as much as i wanted for my gig -and buying another sampler wouldn't exactly be an option right now- is there any other way i could boost my sp's space?
Maybe SD card readers or something?
All ideas are welcome. Thank you folks 8)

That's a tough one. I looked into it seems the og404 can only take 1GB cards. I would say truncate everything and go through all samples and convert as many as possible to mono and/or low-fi.

Maybe you could borrow an SX, I have a 404SX with a 32GB card in it.

Have you tried working with 1GB? That's a HUGE amount of sample time, even in stereo. One 5 minute sample in stereo at max quality is around 75megabytes.

You should give it a shot before looking down on it.

lofi does not save on memory for the 404, there was a funny bug on an old OS where the lofi would export samples in hifi, even being resampled.

the lofi bug was from 1.01 i think or 1.02. it is a little mind boggling how they had the lofi 'effect' applied, to a resampled lofi sample, myabe someone who experienced the bug can help describe it.

So as long as he upgrades to latest this should not be an issue for him I should think.

Thanks folks, I guess I'll have to do as much as I can with just the 1gb memory card, it's gonna be both hard and hilarious (If you ve ever had any loop/arrangement mistakes on stage, you know what i mean :D).
I'll post a video of my performance soon, thanks again!

Guys, there's a problem with my card. It only loads about 50 MBs and then it says full.
Any ideas? The files are stereo wav's.

Does it show as 1GB on your computer? Did you format it in the 404? Are you trying to load files then import them on the 404 off the card? Do you already have a lot of material on the card? Check usage on PC- might just be full of other stuff already- but 1GB is huge- I thought I had a 32GB card in my 404SX but discovered it was a 2GB card.

That's the strange thing man, it says it has about 900 MB empty, nothing else is in the card except the 404 folders, samples are in root position, i might not have formatted the card correctly so i 'll try it out, hope it works or I 'll go with the pc solution :/ (not my thing whatosoever...)...

Seriously man, 900MB...

Let's look at this from perspective...your favorite albums of yesteryear were done on on equipment that couldn't hold 1/100th of the storage you have...

Work the space...don't let the space work you. ;)

No you need to format it in the 404, but you can plug it into a computer to drop files on it and see how much space is used/left.

There must be a reason it is saying it is full. Hope you sort it soon-

I've had this problem too. Seems that some files where hidden. Re-formatting did the trick.
