not shure if i had the first or second generation OG.
it burnt out a few months ago, from loose capacaters
and knobs or something.
anyway, the frequency range on that is almost rival to
mbox at 24 bit.
it goes way lower then pro tools but the mid highs on
the 404 still sound
16 bit, not like a soundblaster 16 bit either, filter blast
your brainin half without the limiter. and even with the limiter you
get garbagedistortions of a 16 bit variety. the 555 super filter is the
only thingi saw that solves the garbage distortion. the 202 isn't very
garbagy tho.
The reverb is a good fast poor mans mastering , awesome with vinyl sim
on the lowest compression. the 606 doesnt
have such a wide frequency response,
but the subsonic does go to 0 hz. theres just something crazy
about the sound on the og 1. way different than the 303. the
even richer and brighter than the 606. 303 and 505 are similar
sound and fx, but different vinyl sim warbles. maybe every sp
has different warbles. I havnt owned 2 of the same so I wouldnt
know, but 303 404 505 and 606 all have different warbles on vinyl sim.
606 and 505 wow knob warble effects are almost similar, you can
just put your finger on the tape wheel and make your own. ha,.
I rocked the 404 for almost 5 years then it exploded, should
get another one just for recording. it would almost rival a 1
bit recorder. 1 track.

I shouldn't call the filter blast garbage, it does serve efficiently,
oddly enough
as a turntable amp. so there you have it. a magic record amp
built in.

you have to juice it up after, with iso but it still works good.

I think im just going nuts 2 samplers and Recorder is already
way to much stuff, another 404 would just be a novelty, it would
come in handy for lots of quick sampling of anything.
