Im new to the MIDI shit i really dont understand it at all.

I was with Khrysis and he was tellin me how he had a midi controller with a Motif rack hooked up to his MPC so i figured some how I could hook mine up to my 404.

This is my goal:

I want to play bass lines on my 404 beats.....

I have an Alesis Photon 25 Controller and i only use it for Reason 4 and making beats with out samples....

is there a way i can control sounds from reason and have them come out on my SP 404 some how?

help me out, i dont understand this shit.....

oh and i have it all runnin thru a US-122 Tascam Audio Interface

get me right....

(M1 4 EVER)

MIDI is not sound. You should think of midi as a bunch messages that you can send to a synth/sampler to tell it which of its sounds to play and how to play it.

So to answer your question; NO you can not use midi to make sounds from withing reason to come out of your sp-404. The sp-404 will only respond to the MIDI signals by playing its own sounds/samples. You can however export/sample the sounds of reason into your sp-404 and then you can control those samples via MIDI.

I hope this helps a bit, you can also read more about MIDI on:

well that's kind of wrong. there are two ways to do this.

1. make a bassline in Reason and sample it to the sp.

2. midisync them(i THINK Reason can sync) then connect line out from your computer to the line in on your sp.

well he was right when he said midi is just a bunch of messages, but wrong about the main thing: running reasonsounds thru his sp:)
