Hey!

I'm trying to sync 404 to Monotribe MIDI out and only get them to sync the way 404 is not receiving midi note messages from mono and then playing my samples when I'm playing bass lines. How can you do that? I was trying to google an answer, but without luck.

Any idea?

Maybe its discussed here already before, but this forum didn't let me post to another topic already discussing bout 404/midi.

Thanks guys!

From the manual's 'troubleshooting' section:

Have you made the correct settings so the pattern sequencer can synchronize? see p47 ->
@Page 47: HOLD DOWN FUNC and press PAD 10 (MIDI SYNC). Turn the CTRL 3 knob to specify MIDI SYNC mode. AUT = Auto Sync, TMP = Tempo Sync, OFF = MIDI clock start/stop/continue messages will be ignored. Only AUTO will receive start/stop/continue MIDI messages from external device. Press REC to turn the light off. *NOTE* This setting is retained even after power is turned off.

To sync playback with AUTO, press HOLD and push the pad of the pattern you wish to sync with stop/start/continue on your external sequencer device sending MIDI clock. When that device's PLAY button is pushed, the selected pattern will sync and play the moment you push play on the other device. When you stop the external sequencer, the 404's sequence will stop playing as well.

Is the external MIDI Device set to transmit MIDI Clock messages? Some devices have a setting that turns MIDI clock transmission ON/OFF. Also some external devices only transmit MIDI clock messages when playing a sequence.

Does the tempo of the external MIDI device exceed the tempo range of the 404? The 404 can sync only in ranges of 40BPM to 200BPM. It may be unreliable to sync outside this range.

Hopefull some of that helps.

Well, i didnt read the post before so i might be repeating.
I know the monotribe only deals with midi channel 1, so it probably only sends and receives on channel 1 so set the 404 (with the function/midi ch) to channel 1. To get the monotribe to stop playing your samples which it probably will do since it has an extensive list of midi CC settings and probably sends notes too, you have to set your... hold up.

Ok. Just remembered but i dont wanna erase anything. Ok, change your midi ch. to something other than 1 so your 404 wont be triggeres by the monotribes midi channel 1. Then the sync stuff should be set to auto so if the monotribe is sending a midi clock signal, then your 404 will hear it even if its a different midi channel. That should do it. Never thought to have the monotribe control the 404 pattern sync. Good idea.
Hope it works.
