Hey y’all, just came up with a new technique for BPM change of a sample.

We all know that when you adjust the Time/BPM, it degrades the sound of the sample if it’s too extreme of change (for example: going from 100 BPM to 120 BPM or vice versa.)

One way I’ve over come this, is by taking the sample I wish to adjust, setting it to loop, and resampling the loop for 4-8 measures.

Make sure the loop is tight. You don’t want a sloppy chop.

You’ll notice that when you adjust the BPM on this sample, it doesn’t sound quite as bad as when it’s a shorter sample.

Next, you can take the sample and either mark it, or resample it. I would suggest resampling it so that all the data is saved with no risk of losing it accidentally. You can then mark/truncate the sample.
The other benefit of resampling being the smaller sample will require less memory.

Hope this tip helps.

this tip is great. the sound degradation issue is one of my biggest gripe with the sp series. i'm gonna go try this trick out right now.

combinations of pitch mfx1 and lofi button will treat the glitches, i think it detects something bad in the signal and it glitches maybe or something. cause some samples have absolultly no alias glitching even without the trick this thread is about. the lofi button noise signanture has a nice buzz, i prefer the mfx lofi. the best lofi is onboard mic.
