Alright everyone i've been doing a lot of digging around the forum and i think i'm on the verge of understanding my way around the sp. I've got three questions today.

1. If I back up save on the sdhc card then reconnect my sdhc card to my laptop and upload new samples the old ones will still be saved in bank 1 right? This sounds a little backwards to me and i don't want to accidentally delete anything.

2. I assume many of you not only make music with the sp but also dj your music using it as well. I see some people out there like dibiase, ras g, samiyam, ect sometimes performing long sets only using the sp at times. I understand how they could be using effects in the live situation, but i'm curious about how they manage to transition so nicely on the fly. Any chance someone could share there own experience or give a example of transitioning between tracks on the sp? I imagine there are a lot of different ways and i just need to continue getting my hands dirty.

3 Do you ever load new banks during a live set or would that just leave a awkward silence?

Thanks for all the help thus far everyone.

Peace

transition = delay/reverb/anything that add a tail into either a smooth sample or another track.

I can only answer question 2... so you sample entire songs into the sp so you get one full beat per pad. I fill a bank with just full beats like that, and then a nearby bank with samples and one shots. So start by using the hold function to play a beat that you have sampled to a pad, when the end of that beat is near you can either make a smooth transition to the next beat by using an effect like delay, bpm looper, or djfx. Or use the one shots you have to transition. When the hold function is engaged then pressing it turns the hold off, so apply your effect of choice, let it ring out, press hold to turn the beat off and press the pad for your next beat. Or do that same process using a one shot instead of an effect. Hope this makes sense
