when i connect my midi cable from my keyboard to the sp404 will i be able to record what i play on a pad??

not a chance, you might be able ot control the sample of your 404sx, and record the performance you played using that sample, but you wont be able to record the inboard sound of you keyboard, for that, you need audio cables :)

thanks for your reply....i dont know if your familiar with samiyam but im a huge fan...he uses a 404 and he has a synth that he incorporates into his instrumentals a lot...im trying to figure out how i can achieve this..srry im a noob

well, grab yourself some audio cables and send the audio out or headphone out of your keyboard to the audio in of your 404. Might wanna do some basic reading on audio and midi to get the basics down. But just play your keyboard, get a tune you like and sample it, then you can hit a pad and play that sound or series of sounds, and thats how you turn em into beats. Play around on the keyboard long enough, something will catch your ear, then you just grab it for later.
