So I have a 404 og and 404 sx and was wondering if any of yall have exchanged the pads between the two. Id say the sx pads are notably better (they're not like bricks) and I wanna put em in my og. Would I just un screw the screws in the back and just do the ol switcharoo? Any help is appreciated. Thanks !

had the same idea; already ordered sx pads years ago; never got back to the store though... you need to cut the mat below the banks though so that the bank layout still makes sense on the og... or you just don't care and find a creative solution like painting the pad banks... cutting shouldn't be an issue though, but since they got slightly different colours... hmm ... i dunno...

it's a looong way to get to the pad mat (how u call that shit?) though!!! u have to unscrew everything (from the back)
i think it's worth it... sx pad where about 40€ and you have to order them through a specified roland dealer. go for it!

hmmm i was afraid it was gonna be like that, im not really tryna cut the pads. my sx pads are really broken in and gushy, the numbers are really faded. i just got the og and the pads still feel like brand new, maybe a year of mashing on em will break em in

i've had an OG for years and the pads have never been an issue. and i started with a 303 too. don't see why people are hating on the pads so much. maybe they're bad compared to a mpc/d but against something like a sp1200 which ones are really 'bricks'?

im not hating my pads just arent broken in.. and i like the 303 pads too... much lower to the sp and you dont have to hit them as hard. when i press pad 11 on my og i have to hit it just right or else it wont play, their stiff and remind me of lil bricks. with a 1200 at least your pressing a button thats gonna be the same pressing it every time yaddadamean

funny, thats really the only pad i have problems with, and its exactly how you explain it, i wonder if pad 11 is a common problem for other 404s
