Ok... I have had the SP404 for a little over 2 weeks and it's my first sampler. I can execute all the functions in the manual but unfortunately it doesn't describe how to make beats. I don't really know where to start or what exactly to do, i have messed around with a few samples, loops and drum patterns but have not been able to create anything. I'm basically asking for the help of anyone that cares to give there input and experience. I hope too make this a continuous step by step post where i gather the information given to me from you guys i take it and execute it and in a few days make another post with what i have done and ask where to go next. Hopefully when the process is complete i can load it up here and let you all hear it. Thanks in advance and im excited to hear what you have to say. PEACE

For starters I would say:

-get a sample from a record
-load up some drums
-create your first patterns, basically:
>play the sample
>play drums over it
>have fun with the effects to tweak it
>track it in the pc and show us so we can comment

Beatmaking is an ongoing learning process, just like any other art form...

so just do it and have fun, that's all it's about.

^^yeah i agree. Just mess with it and see what you come up with. Also youtube "sp 404" and youll come up with loads of beatmaking vids that can be very helpful.

very simple - sample stuff in to get sounds and sequence to arrange your sounds.
