How do you make it play one sample at a time?

As in I press pad 1, then press pad 2 and pad 1 turns off?

Have the non-SX by the way. Peace.

this might not be exactly what you had in mind but set your samples to "gate"

it will make it so that the sample will only fully play if you hold down the pad.

I think you're talking about mute groups?

The 404 (or the 303 or 202) don't have mute groups. There are a couple "poor man's mute groups" techniques you'll find on here if you search 'mute groups'.

If I was gonna try to simulate them on my 303...hmm, I'm not sure what I'd do. Prolly sequence my stuff with the samples set on 'gate' and be just really OCD about when the samples cut off. That will produce quite similar results, but no, there's no direct mute groups. :(

I youtube'd mute groups and yeah that's what I meant. A damn shame it doesn't work on any of the SP's.

Only found ghetto way of doing it though, so thanks for that.

Alright thanks guys!

i know 2 ways,

have both samples on loop,

have 1 playing, then smack both pads the other one should turn on and the one that was playing will turn off.

the other one is the delete trick this is glitchy but sounds cool. make sure you dont accidently delete your samples.

oh yeah the pattern sequencer trick, kinda glitchy too, but sounds
"modern live" like some cats these days.
