Has anyone ever meant to copy a sample, but instead hit the "backup load" pad and then the pad they "meant" to copy, thus ERASING everything you had worked on???

I had been completing a new track that I was so happy with, but just lost every. single. sample. by accidentally backup loading something!

The problem with sampling is that I will never be able to make this same track again. No matter what, it will be different in some ways- the samples will be slightly different at best. I'm going to try to recreate it, but it is so frustrating, I just sat on my floor in silence for a half hour wanting to cry.

similar has happened to me before. i pulled the SD card out once while it was being accessed and all my samples and like 2 beats i made got erased.

at first i was pissed but now i like to think that its no big deal.

i just keep it moving no matter what.

I hate formatting cards thinking I've already backed them up on the PC when I haven't.... Or when I overwrite backups on accident. Lost many a song this way :( luckily it's been a while since this happens, but it could also be from the lack of my music making hahaha.

hey man if you have a computer or tape or whatever you can record to, every now and then its a good idea to just hit each of your pads in so you have an audio file containing all the samples.. kinda rudimentary backup.. I know its hard to remember, but then at least you have the material.

i agree with backing up to tape, this is a good quick solution that can save you from pulling out your hair when you pull a quantum propaniac.

next I would like to rant about what I have been dealing with for the last few months. When I got my new laptop, I thought it would be cool to fuck with the registry to make it load a fresh session everytime and complelty wipe the last temp session of using windows, so basicly when I start my computer everytime, it starts a brand new fresh install of windows, there is a few problems with this, includidng I lose everything unless I save it to a special area on my hard drive. In total I lost 1 full awseome album i am working on, it is lost in the black hole, other wise known as the bit bucket. over all this has helped me understand computing better, but still lost so much in the black hole, trust me you dont get files back from the black hole.
