So do u think that legends like RZA, Preem, Pete, Dre, Large Pro and Madlib really know a ton about notes and all that. I doubt any of them have taken a single music theory class and that they'd all be confused if they saw a lot of the technical things u users say on this site. But that might just be me, am i wrong?

I think Madlib is a pure genius. He knows his way around piles of machines and is a multi-instrumentalist as well. His mixing/compression is as much of a star as his sequencing. He's also a digger's digger for rare sample sources. He can play keys, bass, drums and even knows his way around analog synths.

Can't speak on the other dudes as much, but I know Preemo is no slouch on his end. I would wager a lot of beats don't need much tweaking before they head off for mastering. Not sure of his musical theory knowledge, but I haven't heard any off bass notes or samples out of tune.

RZA will always be one of the GOATs for his old work, but his melodic sensibility seems to be horrible. As he's slid into more instrumentation vs sampling he gotten worse and worse.
