i dragged the thread off track - so here's an attempt to drag it back -

I think i recall seeing a video on web of Joe Beats - showing him using 2 404s live with a mixer - and his mc rapping.

I think he uses the 404s for performance only(?) and his music is chopped up , efxed and exported as samples to the 404s via an old sequencing program he likes to use.

one thing i was thinking was if you are loading a back-up on one machine while playing a song on the other you could use just those two machines and play like a twenty hour show. imagine 12 banks of 24 (288) doubled. 576 patterns 576 samples and that's not including banks c-j.

I actually djed a set with a 555 and a 404 and I DO NOT recall much lagging in the beat matching. However, to insure this, I did consistently utilize some PFL and retriggering. But...I remember having one loop rocking from the 404, another on the 555 and slamming the xfade back and forth furiously wilin' out and destroying the crowd. Big ups to the dude who uses these machines for djing. LOTS of prep work, mango.
