co-sing ^^

the difference between two samples (both 99bpm) is still hard to notice unless theyre very long.

exactly^ if you beat match something poorly it will fall out of sync but usually only after a good amount of time, unless you really just are terrible at beatmatching and it wasn't really on in the first place. There's always a solution though, for instance do what primo did and chop down to single notes and place them right on a beat and you don't have worry about bpm's or the samples falling out of sync.

om: applying the 404 effects on the computer was more of the suggestion, so you wouldnt have to resample. i agree it is real nice to fine tune a loop with ears and dials but if you going for 100% accuracy i personally think you need a zoom button. also i dont know what music you're doing but i thought maybe youd be playing with live drums and looping guitar samples - the salesman who sold me mine does that - whatever htough! 8)

Ya- in terms of accurate editing that is what I like on the Korg ES-1 and others- a modifier key that acts as a zoom and allows you to move through the sample in very small steps. I'm pretty qick with the 404 already using marker button first then going in with start/end point button and turning it off/rotating/turn on/rotate, etc. (tip I found here on the forums)
In this project we are going for a Boards Of Canada/ Four Tet sorta thing- there will be guitar loops- but I really enjoy working outside of the computer and thus end up digging into external boxes to see what their capabilites/limits are. I like Eno's comments on the benefits of working on limited devices and in fully understanding them finding new ways to use and also using them fluidly with little or no thought interrupting the creative flow. I love blinky lights, buttons, and knobs too!

;)

OmAudio, to get your sample to loop right mark the start and end points then put it on loop playback and then hit start/end/level button and make the fine adjustments while it's looping, it's much faster then adjusting then checking it.

true. izn't there a way to read the .8 or .2, or at least couldn't it be put into a os update. yeh, ds303 the bpm issue is whatever na. as far as my experiance i feel the bpm is good for bars most of the time but with some things it just forgets itself. and when i trim lightly, well sometimes it gives a close to accurate readin and sometimes it doesn't. i check bpm with other things as well, or at least t.ry
