i dunno, if this one is already posted somewhere, but it might be helpful for some.

as u know, one cannot easily copy an existing pattern onto another pad of the 404. it's only possible to "move" patterns. this can be a little annoying when u want to create several loop-patterns from the same basic-loop with some variations like a cut out bassdrum or hihat or whatever.

normally you have to program every single pattern from scratch. a known workaround is the one with creating and reloading backups as shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5q90OmW7EQ&feature=channel

but even the shown method can be too slow for some of you, who quickly want to have like 10 or more copys of the same basic-loop.

to speed up this process, just create the desired loop-pattern and save a backup on one of the 12 available slots (see manual).

now u put the compact flash card into the card reader of your computer. in the related backup-directory (e.g. "BKUP1") you will find your programmed pattern (e.g. "DCOPTN000") from which u can now easily make up to 119 copys. the last three digits indicate the position within your 404. "000" means bank a pad 1 and "119" means bank j pad 12 etc.

so if you create three copies of your pattern "DCOPTN000" naming them

DCOPTN001
DCOPTN002
DCOPTN003

you will have the same pattern on pads 1-4 in bank a after you reload the specific backup with your 404. quiet obvious, but maybe some of u didn't know already. can really save time.

Thanks for reminding people. I think many don't know how easy and quick this actually is. I just gotta say that you have included one totally unneccessary part here - there's no need to make any backup. As long as you have a pattern made on banks C - J it's stored on the CF card as DCOPTN file that you can make copies of.

Here are the pattern numbers to make it easier (originally posted by Olby):

BANK C: Patterns 24-35
BANK D: Patterns 36-47
BANK E: Patterns 48-59
BANK F: Patterns 60-71
BANK G: Patterns 72-83
BANK H: Patterns 84-95
BANK I: Patterns 96-107
BANK J: Patterns 108-119

example: pattern 1 and pattern 2 in bank G are named like this: DCOPTN072.BIN and DCOPTN073.BIN

Olby did this in his 404 video he posted like 2 years ago but it's still a great tip for people who don't read the manual or understand how cf cards work.

Hey the FlyLo is some indispensable ninja back door shit. You don't always have a computer... Not that this isn't a dope trick, but the more "in the box" you can keep it the more props you get, imo.
