I've always dreamed of making a long pattern that would show cool visual animations with the pad lights when played back. Of coz this would be even cooler on 555 with more "pad space" :)

The 404 is great, but I wouldn't mind hooking it up with an MPC1000... far better sequencer on that beast

The Roland/Edirol P10 is pretty cool. I used to think I wanted one but it doesn't do what I want. It can only play videos. There's no video fx or transitions. Basically you have to run the P10 into another unit to make use of it for real VJ stuff. There is this VJ controller and software for the Pc that runs about $200 which can do 5times more than this unit can do. Personally I'm using modul8 and quartz composer for my video stuff (Mac only) and its working out good. There's some good older video mixers out there tho.... Can't remember the name but it has like 2 flight throttle controllers on it. Might be the Roland v4. I've seen em on CL for like $300.

i rubbed my numbers off , disabled the blue eye, and im going to open up my 404 and put black nail polish on the leds and then spray paint my faceplate flat black and get a marylin manson sticker for it and slice out the pads and knobs so i have a marylin manson 404
